Kokoro - The Heart Within

The KOKORO jewelry collection expresses cultural adornment and traditions which connect us with different peoples and cultures throughout the world and over the ages. Beads and talismanic charms provide an unusually rich entrée into the social structures, artistic rituals and souls of peoples. Striving for depth beyond  embellishment, Kokoro celebrates the heritage, spirit and essence of diverse cultures; further emphasizing our shared humanity by bringing these re-imagined works into our time and place.

The artist, Margaret MacLean has spent the last 30 years working and studying overseas in tandem with collecting and assembling a vast array of  artifacts, accentuating the diversity of original materials that she incorporates into her pieces. She passionately explores the planet seeking the unique  and unusual to incorporate into one of a kind necklaces. With a passion for texture, color and form Margaret approaches her designs with the intent to  enrich both those who wear them and the people who where involved with their creation.

KOKORO embodies heart, mind, spirit, core, vitality, thought, feeling, wholeheartedness, care and intimacy.  Rather than the physical heart, KOKORO reflects sincerity, mental attitude, intention and innermost thoughts.  There exists no English equivalent to the word KOKORO.
